Mental Health First Aid Training Services

Evidence-based training for your organization, company, church, school or community

Millions of Americans are affected by a mental health condition every year. Chances are a family member, friend, or coworker have a mental health illness.

But how do you recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illness or substance abuse? How do you interact with a person in crisis??

At MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING, participants will learn the skills needed to reach out and provide initial support to someone that may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect that person to the appropriate care.

Berks Counseling Center’s certified Mental Health First Aid facilitators will come to your organization, company, church, school or community and teach you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness or substance use disorders. Participants will learn how to:
  • Assess for risk of suicide or harm
  • Listen non-judgmentally
  • Give reassurance and information
  • Encourage appropriate professional help
  • Encourage self-help and other support strategies
This 8-hour training can be done in one day or in two half days – whatever works best for your organization. Participants will also become certified in Mental Health First Aid.

Consider hosting a group at your organization. For information about cost and to schedule a training, please call Kathy Haggerty-Kase at 610.373.4281, ext.4208 or email her at khaggerty-kase@berkscc.org.
